IRS Delays Form 5500 Filing Deadline for Some Group Health Plans

On April 9, the IRS has released Notice 2020-23, which postpones, among other things, the due date for some group health plans required to file Form 5500.  Plans with original or extended due dates on or after April 1, 2020 and before July 15, 2020 now have until July 15, 2020 to file Form 5500 reports.

This Notice does not provide filing relief for calendar year 2019 plan filings, however, which are initially due on July 31, 2020.  ASR is monitoring for guidance on such relief and will advise our clients accordingly.
