IRS Delays ACA Reporting Again
1/14/2021
The IRS has extended the deadline to furnish Forms 1095-C to individuals, but this year will likely be the last of such extensions.
Notice 2020-76 extends the standard deadline of January 31, 2021 to March 2, 2021. However, the IRS stated that unless it receives comments supporting the continued need for this relief, the 30-day extension will not be available in future years.
Here are the three important deadlines for filing 2020 information:
- March 2, 2021: 30-day extended deadline for furnishing the written statement (Form 1095-C) to full-time employees.
- March 1, 2021: deadline for filing Form 1094-C transmittal (and copies of related Forms 1095-C) with the IRS, if filing on paper.
- March 31, 2021: deadline for filing Form 1094-C transmittal (and copies of related Forms 1095-C) with the IRS, if filing electronically. Electronic filing is mandatory if the ALE is required to file 250 or more Forms 1095-C for the 2020 calendar year.
